How to Survive Year 11

Hey, So I know not all of my lovely readers are going into year 11, but I know that quite a few of you are and this post could be helpful for any stressful time in your life really. Since I finished year 11 and am going into year 12 *eeek* this September, I thought I would try to give some helpful advice on how to make the most of your time and not crumble under the pressure of exams. And also quite a few of my secret blogger project friends (you know who you are) thought they would benefit from a post like this, so here we go...

So year 11 was one whirlwind of a year for me, and it was over before I knew it. With having 24 exams and piles of coursework to finish it wasn't the easiest of things to handle. But I've learned from my mistakes, and once I actually got into doing my exams I became a lot less stressed. Because trying your best is the only thing that matters, you can't do any better than your best.

My first tip is to start revision early. Now I don't mean in the Christmas holidays start full on revising. But if you learn something in class that you aren't too sure about, ask your teacher to explain it, or go home and look in a revision guide and make sure you understand it, this means when you come to revising in the summer you understand most of the basics and it's a lot less pressure. Also if you are taking a language, start learning some vocab, I love using Quizlet for this, because then by the time you get to your exams you know a lot of the vocab which makes revision so much easier. I have a post up about my revision tips on my blog, you can check it out here.

Secondly, ask your teachers questions. For a long time I was too shy to ask my teachers to explain something. But during year 11 I had my science teacher explain the Motor Effect around 20 times until I finally understood it, I also emailed my teachers asking if we could go through something on a lunch time. Teacher's are usually more than happy to help, if you are happy to put the work in they want to help. Don't worry about asking the same question again and again, the more times you have something explained to you the easier it is.

Year 11 really doesn't have to be as stressful as it seems, and once I actually got into doing my exams I relaxed more. You need to remember to keep doing things that you love, during my exams I still managed to write blogposts, all though exams are priority it doesn't mean you have to stop your life completely. You need time out to watch a film or go shopping and take your mind completely away from exams or anything stressful, because that way you will learn to cope. I have a whole post talking about how I cope with stress here. Finally remember that Exam Results Do Not Define Who You Are As A Person.

So that's it I guess, if you have any other questions about year 11 or anything else to do with this subject please comment them below and I am happy to help. I hope  this post was useful  even to the people not going into year 11.

Have you got any tips to survive year 11?

Until Next Time, Katie x
